This course denotes a special emphasis on comparing between the mainstream understanding and roles of international organizations and that of the revising contributions and perspectives on international organizations. In doing so, students are exposed to understanding and critically analyzing the evolution of the internal and external contexts and factors that affect the existence of various international organizations. These factors include: the roles of political agendas of individual states, humanitarian interventions, crisis management, proactive versus reactive policies, questioning the efficiency and effectiveness of existing international organizations, as well as working up for future scenarios for the functionality of the international organizations, while bearing in mind their particularities and contexts.
Course Goals:
• Become aware of the goals and functions of important international and regional organizations.
• Comprehend and analyze crucial challenges facing global governance and the effect of Great Power competition on the future of international organizations.
