This course focuses on the relationship between the environment and the economic behavior of individuals and groups using microeconomic analytical tools. It includes a clear definition on environmental economics; it also introduces different methods of project impact on the environment with a special focus on cost-benefit analysis technique. It highlights the concepts of: externalities, standards, as well as different environmental policy techniques by governments with a special regard on the Egyptian case.
Course Goals:
• Define Environmental Economics and its related topics.
• Teach the students the relationship between economics and the environment.
• Teach students how to use the tools of economic analysis to study environmental issues.
• Familiarize students with cost-Benefit analysis.
• Introduce students to major global environmental issues, and agreements.
• Acquaint students with the Egyptian stance on different Environmental concerns and Policies.
