This course focuses on the relationship between the environment and the economic behavior of individuals and groups using microeconomic analytical tools. It includes a clear definition on environmental economics; it also introduces different methods of project impact on the environment with a special focus on cost-benefit analysis technique. It highlights the concepts of: externalities, standards, as well as different environmental policy techniques by governments with a special regard on the Egyptian case. Course Goals: • Define Environmental Economics and its related topics. • Teach the students the relationship between economics and the environment. • Teach students how to use the tools of economic analysis to study environmental issues. • Familiarize students with cost-Benefit analysis. • Introduce students to major global environmental issues, and agreements. • Acquaint students with the Egyptian stance on different Environmental concerns and Policies.

1-	List the most pressing International and Global Environmental Issues.
2-	Recognize the basic tools used in Environmental Analysis.
3-	Define the concepts related to the environmental field.
4-	Relate different environmental policies.

b. Intellectual Skills:

1-	Point out the importance of sustainability.
2-	Distinguish between the different market structures and their impact on the environment.
3-	Outline the tradeoff between the present and the future in taking environmental decisions.

c. Professional and Practical Skills:

1-	Apply Cost-Benefit analysis in assessing environmental projects
2-	Interpret the importance of developing sound environmental policies addressing current issues with a special reference to Egypt.
3-	Compare and contrast different environmental programs.

d. General and Transferable Skills:

1-	Develop problem solving skills.
2-	Enhance innovative and know-how skills working towards results.
3-	Gain confidence to work towards solutions.
4-	Develop a sense of responsibility towards society.
5-	Experience with conceptual frameworks effective for problem solving and decision making.
6-	Acquire analytical reasoning skills, numeric and clear effective communication skills.
7-	Test the ability of students to work under pressure and as part of a team.
